Blue and Gold Banquet, Dad and Lad Bake-Off February 6th at 6:30pm

BLUE AND GOLD Banquet and Dad & Lad Bake Off Competition
It’s a tradition for Cub Scout Packs to hold a Blue and Gold Banquet each February to celebrate the anniversary of scouting. This year, Pack 60 will be celebrating our 80th Anniversary! As one of the oldest and largest Packs in the area we should all be proud to be a part of its legacy.

Blue and Gold Banquet:
Date: Thursday, February 6
Time: 6:00 Setup Committee*, 6:30-8:00pm (Banquet, Cake Judging, Friends of Scouting and Special Guest Performance)
Where: Spreckels Gym
Theme: 80th Anniversary Celebration
(*if you signed up for a B&G committee Sarah and Susan will be contacting you by the end of this week with more details)

RSVP to BANQUET CLICK HERE by MONDAY-We appreciate our scouts and as part of your hard work, popcorn sales, and being awesome Pack 60 will cover the dinner cost for each Cub Scout that attends the banquet. Akela’s, parents and guests are welcome to attend (cost per person roughly $7-$10/each). Dinner will be catered by Gino’s Fine Italian Food, Salinas, CA

Dad & Lad Bake-Off:
The purpose of the Dad & Lad Bake-Off is threefold:
1) To provide all Cub Scouts and their male Akelas (brothers, uncles, dads, grandpas, etc.) with an opportunity to wreak havoc in their kitchens. If a Cub Scout doesn't have a male Akela, he can use a female Akela to participate in this contest.
2) To share your delicious dessert with your den.
3) To get recognized for having tried your best to make a dessert that looks and tastes great! Bake-Off Awards: A patch will be given to each Scout who brings a cake to enter into the Dad & Lad Bake-Off. Overall Pack awards will be for: 1. Best Pack 60 80th Birthday Theme, 2. Most Scoutly and 3. Cubmasters Choice
RULES:
1) Only male cooks, advisers and clean-up crews are allowed to participate. No advice, instruction or help of any sort is allowed from females (unless there is no male Akela available).
2) Dessert & icing mixes are allowed; however, it has been past contestant's experience that the more from scratch you make it, the messier it gets. And the messier it gets, the more fun you'll have doing it!
3) ALL CAKES MUST HAVE A VISIBLE LABEL WITH THE DEN NUMBER, SCOUT NAME AND RANK.
Please contact your Den leader with any questions or concerns.

A Friendly Reminder to Parents:
Parents are required to supervise their children at cub scouting events. Scouts are not permitted to run around the auditorium at Spreckels School at any time. Scouts should be seated when it is appropriate to be seated and standing when it is appropriate to stand. When the flag is moving in the auditorium, please watch the flag and follow it as it enters or leaves the room. Silence during flag ceremonies is appreciated. Please sit with your child and their den to help
supervise cubs.
