January 27th, 2017 Pack Meeting and Pinewood Derby

BACKGROUND:
It's Pinewood Derby Time! Cub Scouts just like you have been building their own cars and competing in Pinewood Derby® events since 1953! At the heart of this event's success is the process itself - bonds are strengthened as the Cub Scout partners with a parent or adult mentor to design, carve, paint, weigh, refine, and race the car. In addition, Cub Scouts build confidence and take pride in their own growing skills and hard work. So enjoy the ride! Weigh-in will be on January 25th (Firehouse) and the Derby is Friday, January 27th (Veterans Hall ).  Each Den should bring 2 desserts and a “race” themed decoration for the tables.

 We will have more information for weigh-in times for each den, and RSVP sign-ups for Dinner (catered).  Our volunteer Spreckels Fire Dept will need some parent volunteers for weigh-in and set-up for the race track.  Please consider helping the pack for this event.  Stay tuned.  😁

Parade of Lights is Coming Up, Sunday 11/27

Where:        Parking lot south of Acacia and west of Main Street. We are entry #61. When:      Sunday, November 27th       5:30 PM, line up for the parade (it starts at 6pm) Bring:        **Please bring battery operated camping lanterns to light our way. Glow sticks, battery operated light strings, etc.         If possible, each scout should have a lantern to carry that casts a glow (not a beam). Wear:          Class A's, Santa Hats, Antlers... or holiday hats and anything that lights up! What:          Older scouts are needed to carry the Pack 60 Banner and Flags.        All participants receive a parade patch.

Pinewood Derby Weigh-in Times and Car Numbers

Wednesday, January 24th (Spreckels Fire Company Building)Please find your scout's Derby Car number here:  Pack 60 Derby Car Numbers Weigh-in times: 5:00-5:30pm= Lions (Den 4), Tigers (Den 2) & Wolves (Den 5) 5:30-6:00pm=Bears (Den 1) & Web 1's (Den 11) 6:00-6:30pm=Web 2's (Den 3 & 6) 6:30-7:00pm=Open Registration Friendly reminder that cars will be collected that evening.   Friday, January 26th -Pinewood Derby starts at 5pm, we race by ranks, Lions and Tigers will be starting right at 5pm.
