District Events this Saturday-Pinewood Champ Camp and Webcast on New Cub Scouting Program

Pinewood Derby Champ Camp, January 17, 2015, 11am-3pm

    • Visit the South Bay Scout Shop for our annual Pinewood Derby Champ Camp.  Our expert will be here to help Scouts with fine tuning their Pinewood Derby Cars and get them ready for their pack and district races.  In addition, we will have demonstrations on Pinewood Derby tools, car weigh-ins, and a test track setup to see how well the Scouts’ cars run.  Visit us at the Hayward Scout Shop for this event.  The Champ Camp will be open from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM on Saturday, January 17, 2015.  See you there!

    January 17th Webcasts on the New Cub Scouting Program
     
    A new Cub Scouting program is launching June 1, 2015, that will be more fun and exciting for boys, and easier to implement for unit leaders.
    To ensure you're ready to make the transition, a number of webcasts will be hosted on January 17th to outline the coming changes, how to prepare, and when resources will be available.
     
    Cubmaster Webcasts
    Saturday, January 17, at 8 a.m. (Central), or
    Saturday, January 17, at 3 p.m. (Central) 
    Den Leader Webcasts
    Saturday, January 17, at 9:30 a.m. (Central), or
    Saturday, January 17, at 4:30 p.m. (Central)
     
    LDS-Specific Considerations*
    Saturday, January 17, at 11 a.m. (Central), or
    Saturday, January 17, at 6 p.m. (Central)
    *It is recommended that those interested in the LDS session
    view one of the role-specific sessions first.
     

    Although the content will be geared to the roles listed above, anyone with an interest in learning about the new Cub Scouting program is
    welcome to attend.

    Pinnacles Camping December 2-4 With Troop 60

    Families of Cub Scouts Pack 60 will be joining Scouts Troop 60 at Pinnacles on December 3 and 4. Families are welcome to come on the 2nd, please speak with Mr. Woodson regarding arrival time. Troop 60 will be working on their own merit badges in cooking, and will be preparing a spaghetti dinner on Saturday night, and a French Toast and Scrambled Eggs breakfast on Sunday morning to share with the Pack. Parent assistance with preparing meals is always welcome! We will be staying at site 120 and 121 as a Pack/Troop! If you're a family new to camping, and you prefer mattresses and a canvas cabin with 30A power there are still sites available that you can rent, please see recreation.gov  to rent your site. The group site we will be at does not have power available. It's going to be a very fun weekend with scouts working toward their adventure achievement requirements, hiking, laughing, and of course, s'mores. We hope to see you there.

    Pinewood Derby Weigh-in Times and Car Numbers

    Wednesday, January 24th (Spreckels Fire Company Building)Please find your scout's Derby Car number here:  Pack 60 Derby Car Numbers Weigh-in times: 5:00-5:30pm= Lions (Den 4), Tigers (Den 2) & Wolves (Den 5) 5:30-6:00pm=Bears (Den 1) & Web 1's (Den 11) 6:00-6:30pm=Web 2's (Den 3 & 6) 6:30-7:00pm=Open Registration Friendly reminder that cars will be collected that evening.   Friday, January 26th -Pinewood Derby starts at 5pm, we race by ranks, Lions and Tigers will be starting right at 5pm.
