Q: What is Blue and Gold?
A: The Blue and Gold Banquet is a traditional Cub Scout event. It is typically held in February when Packs celebrate the anniversary of the start of Boy Scouts of America.
Dad & Lad Dessert Bake-Off Theme: Star Wars
The purpose of the Dad & Lad Bake-Off is threefold:
1) To provide all Cub Scouts and their male Akelas (brothers, uncles, dads, grandpas, etc.) with an opportunity to wreak havoc in their kitchens. If a Cub Scout doesn't have a male Akela, he can use a female Akela to participate in this contest.
2) To share your delicious dessert with your den.
3) To get recognized for having tried your best to make a dessert that looks and tastes great!
Bake-Off Awards: A patch will be given to each Scout who brings a cake to enter into the Dad & Lad Bake-Off. Pack Prizes will be given for: Best Overall, Most Creative, Cubmaster's Choice and The Sith-est
RULES:
1) Male cooks, advisers and clean-up crews are allowed to participate. No advice, instruction or help of any sort is allowed from females (unless there is no male Akela available).
2) Dessert & icing mixes are allowed; however, it has been past contestant's experience that the more from scratch you make it, the messier it gets. And the messier it gets, the more fun you'll have doing it!
3) ALL CAKES MUST HAVE A VISIBLE LABEL WITH THE DEN NUMBER, SCOUT NAME AND RANK.
Pinterest and google are excellent resources for ideas on Star Wars desserts, cupcakes or cakes. The possibilities are endless, have fun with this one.
